ABOUT US
We are Alan and Suzanne Davenport. We've spent the last 15 years or so living and working in many places from Brazil to Taiwan. Although we have been to many interesting and lovely places, we have now settled in what we think is the perfect spot in the Lot et Garonne department of France, just south of Bergerac and the border with the Dordogne region. With its many picturesque bastide towns, rolling countryside and chateaux - and the wines that come with them - we feel at home here and look forward to welcoming you to our gites.
OUR GITES
Our two gites, La Petite Bessou and Lou Bessou, each with its own private pool, stand in grounds of more than 1 hectare of peaceful, rolling countryside between the medieval Bastide towns of Villereal and Monflanquin in the beautiful Lot et Garonne department of south west France
Both the Lot and Dordogne rivers are about 35 minutes by car.
Bergerac airport is about 30 minutes drive.
Bordeaux and Toulouse airports are about 2 hours by car.

THINGS TO DO
Gites de Bessou is perfectly situated in between several of the Bastide villages of the northern Lot et Garonne in a peaceful part of the countryside brilliant for walks, runs or bike rides. There are lots of things to see and do nearby; wine tasting, visiting the numerous chateaux, playing golf, horse riding, beautiful canoe trips, food and brocante markets and of course France's favourite pastime - eating and drinking at the many and varied restaurants , cafes and bars. Here are a few of the neighbouring "Plus Beaux Villages de France" for times that you aren't relaxing by the pool or firing up the barbecue.
